Point to Point handicap offset, has been calculated and numbers generated.
For 2023, your Central Council was not able to include these on our Certificate, however, the offset can now be calculated using the tools below or using our P2P-TCF calculator
UPDATED: April 7, 2023
The following is the inclusion into the Handicappers Manual for 2024:
This is preliminary and ongoing changes may be made.
Handicappers Manual Part II
6.7 Point to Point (P2P) handicap
A FS-P2P & NFS-P2P Time Correction Factor (TCF) will be calculated and displayed on all certificates.
The Point to Point handicap adjustments may be used to score any courses that are:
√ longer than 6 nautical mile
√ are of the random leg variety (marks are not adjustable to a true windward leeward Course)
√ are primarily daytime events
6.7.1 Primary P2P Adjustment
The value of a Class “Point to Point” offset shall be derived using the difference between the Jim Teeters WL 10* and the GPH* formula*, with a modified Crew weight value**.
For details related to calculation of a class P2P Handicap “Offset”, please see: Handicappers Manual appendage: below
6.7.2 Centerline offset
A full “Centerline offset” will be applied as follows:
For all certificates the value of the "Centerline Credit" will be subtracted from the formula when calculating the P2P-TCF.
6.7.3 P2P-TCF
A Point 2 Point Time Correction Factor (P2P-TCF) vs a Time a Time on Distance (P2P-TOD) will be calculated and recommended to be used for scoring.
FS-P2P = 650/ (550 + FS-ASP + P2P-Offset - Centerline Credit)
NFS-P2P = 650/ (550 + NFS-ASP + P2P-Offset - Centerline Credit)
6.7.4 Free Flying Headsails (Code 0s)
Under review for the 2025 Season
Handicappers Manual Appendage:
Jim Teeters VPP for Calculating the NFS-Delta and the P2P Offset
PHRF-LO Point to Point Offset – P2P-Offset
The value of a Class “Point to Point” offset shall be derived using the difference between the Jim Teeters WL10 less GPH, with a modified Crew weight value**.
