PHRF Organization Comparisons for Initial Handicap Assignment

The US Sailing book on PHRF ratings across fleets has always been suspect in terms of the information provided by various PHRF organizations.

There are variations on whether;

  • SP’s or Asp’s are submitted
  • Differing wind and sea conditions
  • Information used in the initial assignment
  • Structure of adjustment to ratings
  • Structure of ratings reviews

Every year Central Council must review boat classes for various reasons, this generally occurs during the meeting following the Annual General Meeting.
