Enable Macros using Excel

If you are having trouble with any of the "Buttons" in the Handicapper's Worksheet, then you may need to look at your security setting regarding "macros".

The TEST:

To see if you have a macro issue, you can easily test this by using the J 24 ** boat class (see below).

If your macros are working, then the "Click here to populate ODR specs" button should appear as it does in the picture below.

If the "Click here to populate ODR" button is greyed out (see below), then you probably have a macro issue.

 

To fix the macro issue follow the directions based on version of Excel you are currently using. If you are using a version that is not listed below, you should be able to find these same settings by using the guides below.

Excel 1997 - 2003 Enable Macros

When you first open the Handicappers worksheet you may encounter the following pop-up message:

Always choose "Enable Macros" when opening the worksheet.

If you do not see this message, then you need to adjust your security settings.


Security Settings for macros

1 Select "Tools", "Options" from the top menu of Excel.

2. Under the Security tab, select "Macro Security".

3. Set your Security Level to "Medium". This will allow you to choose to run macros if you know the source is safe.

The next time you open the Worksheet, you will be presented with the "Security Warning" as shown at the beginning of this article.


 

Excel 2010 - 2013 Enable Macros

When you first open the Handicappers worksheet you may encounter the following pop-up message:

Always choose "Enable Content" when opening the worksheet.

 


 

Security Settings for macros

1 Select "File", "Options" from the top menu of Excel.

 

2. Select "Trust Center" , "Trust Center Settings" (see below).

3. Set your Macro Settings to "Disable all macros with notification". This will allow you to choose to run macros if you know the source is safe.

The next time you open the Worksheet, you will be presented with the "Security Warning" as shown at the beginning of this article.
