In 2022, we will now be using the mid (Half) Girth measurement on all Spinnakers.
MID GIRTH - used in calculations for Symmetrical & Asymmetrical Spinnakers
Definition:
MID GIRTH - is defined as the Spinnaker mid (Half) girth, measured mid luff to mid leech under moderate tension.

Pre: 2022 season - no longer used
There are TWO (2) different types of Spinnaker measurements.
MAX GIRTH - used in calculations for Symmetrical Spinnakers
MID GIRTH - used in calculations for Symmetrical & Asymmetrical Spinnakers
We suspect that some Symmetrical Spinnakers have been rated using the MID Girth in error.
Definitions:
MAX GIRTH - is defined as the symmetrical spinnaker maximum girth. With the spinnaker folded in half, this is 2 x the maximum width of the sail measured from the center/fold of the sail to the luff and leech.
MID GIRTH - is defined as the Asymmetrical spinnaker mid girth, measured mid luff to mid leech under moderate tension.
