We have been informed that there was a change in boom height on the C&C 30 during the production of the boats.
In Sept 1978, C&C changed the height of the boom for safety reasons, which means the P value for the standard boat would be 33.00' (vs 34.00').
According to our research, this began with Hull number 507.
Therefore, we have identified this in our Standard Handicap list and are asking owners and handicappers to contact us if a change to a certificate is necessary.
NOTE: there is no difference in handicap between the 2 version as Central Council felt there would be no change in performance.

Notice of upcoming handicapping
changes for 2012
PHRF-Lake Ontario continues its efforts to enhance the fairness and objectivity of its handicaps. It has undertaken a project in conjunction with US Sailing's Offshore Office under Jim Teeters, Associate Offshore Director. Jim has worked on a database of LO boats using their Velocity Prediction Program (VPP).
Ready for the 2012 season will be a calculated delta for the No Flying Sails (NFS) base handicap, modifications to the Genoa size, and propeller type adjustment tables all based on VPP analysis. All changes will be reviewed by Central Council and of course the principle of performance handicapping is still very much in the forefront. More details will be released at the PHRF-LO Annual General Meeting and also the spring training session.
